This is another illustration where the title says it all. Acknowledge Me, I take you into my New World with this Project. As it sits in my 20+ Years Catalog, Acknowledge Me is way different from the others, because this time around I made songs that I knew I personally would like, I must admit that I usually set out to appease my fans and new listeners during the making of a Project. Previously, I would make what I thought People would want to hear, but not this time, this time I was selfish. I will also admit that this album was highly influenced by Young Jeezy’s earlier albums, primarily because that’s all that I listened to before I made Acknowledge Me–as far as the foundation goes, but it’s still MG to the core! Also, I took a break from production this time around–to mastermind my poetry and give you 100% of my thoughts, because it can weigh on me at time when I produce my own shit. Nonetheless, as always–I set out for a specific sound and tone that I wanted the Album to have, I found it with Atlanta based Producer Cammo.
So, from the top! Let’s get into the intro “Predator” what I should of named “Purge”, but Predator was just me releasing a lot of feelings and skeletons that I’ve kept inside and off the record on previous Projects. Woo, finally a track I could really vent on and clear the air.
“It’s Getting Ugly” I had to get Suave Smooth on this track, because that’s all I could hear on this beat and man did he deliver. I made “Be Patient”, because I’ve told myself to be patient all of my Life, so this song is real, near and dear to me, it’s also made to motivate anybody that’s going through it as well, so you Be Patient, yes you! “Crush” was something that I came up with while on the road, I needed that energy, that same intensity that I used to give–like in “Choppa Hit Everything” I found that throwback energy in “Crush”. Next, I needed a re-introduction theme music to usher me back into this quality street music that I’m known for, so “I Came To Ball” will give you that keen feeling of accomplishment we all strive for in Life.
Moving forward, my personal favorite on this Album is “Godspeed”, mainly because of the beat, it was just a fun song to make and put together from scratch, I switched the flow-up on that one. “Watch Them Haters” I’m paying homage to the 90s Southern Rap hit by Below and you know I had to get my Dawg Dro on it. “Jeezy Flows” is a cross between my two favorite Artists: Jeezy and Rick Ross, being that the beat is a Jeezy beat, I just called it what it is and payed homage to the snowman with flows and punchlines as well. The Queen sampled “My Own Bag” feat JRod is self explanatory, the hook will get you crunked and the verses will make you wanna go out in get it. In this “Only Fanz” era you gotta appreciate the ladies and their new hustle, since it’s been frowned upon by so many, I figured I would touch on the subject in a positive light. “Only Time Will Tell III” my 3rd installment was a very emotional song for me, the beat instantly reminded me of my late fallen comrade JBo, so I had to release some pressure on that track.
“Where My Dogs” at feat Drumma is another song that I made for my Friends and Day ones that passed away and how it really affected me–to this Day! Finally the Outro “The Crow” is symbolic to the movie, where I feel like my music career died and how I feel that it’s now been reincarnated to something even better… it can’t rain forever, from years and years of not being recognized for my worth, my talent or my drive by the DJs and Promoters, specially in my City, moving forward, I’m demanding that you Acknowledge Me….. –MG!🐺🙏
